The Oso Melero
Our logo is inspired on the tamandua, or "oso melero," is a marsupial mammal from the anteater family, specifically the silky anteater. It mainly inhabits the tropical and subtropical forests of Central and South America. Its distinctive appearance and ecological role make the tamandua an intriguing subject for wildlife enthusiasts and researchers.
The Leopardus Pardalis (Ocelote)
It is considered the largest American spotted feline after the jaguar. The color and pattern of spots usually change with age.
It is usually solitary, nocturnal and crepuscular. It prefers places with good plant cover. It usually wanders during the afternoon in places where there is little human intervention. It is very skilled at climbing and a good swimmer. Its diet consists of a variety of small and medium-sized mammals, as well as birds, reptiles and amphibians.
National conservation status: Vulnerable.
Biodiversity in El Morado
El Morado Natural Reserve, located in the Yungas, is a vibrant example of biodiversity, featuring ecosystems that include large yellow spear trees, white stick, and horco quebracho. The reserve is home to diverse wildlife, such as corzuelas, pumas and the endangered oso melero. Its streams are rich in fish and support various amphibians and insects, attracting numerous bird species. Conservation efforts are crucial to protect this unique environment, enhancing visitors' connection to nature. In 2010, the inspiring project was brought to life by the dynamic duo, Ludwig Karl Hermann Emge and his wonderful wife, Susana Perez Valdez de Emge.
Ludwig, a passionate German adventurer, made his way to Argentina in the vibrant 1970s. Ever since then, he has been captivated by the breathtaking natural wonders this beautiful country has to offer.
